The village of Tadley lies within North East Hampshire and was originally common land covered in covered in gorse with a few scattered settlements, the local soil content proving excellent for the manufacture of bricks which were made at Tadley Common, a practice that has long since ceased. Tadley was, and still is, the centre of the local besom industry, the besom is a type of broom made form twigs and is usually associated with witches! Indeed there is evidence today that the witches exist here in Tadley, albeit the Tadley Witches Netball Team.
