Lying close to the borders of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire but actually in South Warwickshire is the town of Shipston on Stour, the town taking its name from Saxon times and is derived from the phrase â€œSheep wash townâ€, the town for many years being a regionally important sheep market location. Today though this small market town is perfectly located for those who wish to tour the region, Moreton in the Marsh and Broadway are relatively close by as is Stratford on Avon. Shipston though with its picturesque main shopping street, is on a warm summery day, probably England at its best with its range of shops and goods, the pubs and restaurants a stroll around the town centre along some of its quaint streets and alleyways will be well rewarded.
