Sandbanks Peninsula is perhaps the most memorable feature of Poole Harbour. Joined to the mainland by an isthmian road, it divides the harbour from the English Chanel creating a dramatic narrow harbour entrance at its head. In recent years Sandbanks has become famed for its expensive real estate and fancy restaurants, but in reality Sandbanks is a tranquil yet stylish resort renowned for its golden sands, safe swimming conditions and superb views. Situated at the heart of Dorset’s main attractions, the mile-round peninsula has a wonderful blue flag sandy beach which stretches down the coast to Bournemouth and beyond, past the many chines, cafes and beach huts.
