Rochford is a small town and civil parish in Essex, just to the north of the seaside resort of Southend on Sea. The parish of Rochford includes London Southend Airport. The Area currently occupied by Southend Airport was used as a fighter station in WW1. During WW2 Southend Airport was requisitioned by the Air Ministry for use as a fighter airfield for the No.11 Group RAF. The Market Square in Rochford has a varied selection of shops, cafes and businesses. Recreation needs are fully catered for with 3 golf courses in the district, and sports centres in Rayleigh, Hawkwell and Great Wakering Historic buildings include The Old House in South Street, and Rochford Hall, one time home of the Boleyn family.
