Prestatyn is often referred to as the gateway to the North Wales coastline, a town with a history that dates back to prehistoric times, in Anglo Saxon times it was known as Prestetone which means a settlement where two or more priests reside. Some thirty miles away is Chester and there is evidence in Prestatyn that the Romans were also billeted here, a Roman Bath House was excavated in the mid 1980’s and is still visible today, tucked away in a residential area. After the Romans left it was the turn of the Normans however there is very little evidence of their occupation today.
