Located in the County of Gwynedd the town of Penal is around 2 miles from Machynlleth on the A493 in Snowdonia in the valley of the River Dyfi. Close to Pennal there is evidence of a Roman Fort, its remains lie on a ridge running North East although little remains today however it does provide dating evidence that as early as 57AD that there were people living in the area. Today visitors to Pennal enjoy the stunning scenery and mountains with its variety of tourist attractions close by such as the Steam Railway, Slate Mines and of course Portmeirion.
