In north Herefordshire, on the border with Shropshire, is the village of Orleton. Known for its very historical church of St George, Orleton is 7 miles from Leominster in the Teme valley, with the Welsh Marches railway running to the South East of the it. The parish church contains a 12th century font, a clock from 1700, a Norman carving of a dragon, a Jacobean pulpit and two 13th-century chests! Legend has it that on the last day of judgement, the dead here start a resurrection. There are 2 pubs here ˆ The Boot Inn (this 16th century building also has a restaurant and is in the Good Pub Guide) and the Maidenhead Inn.
