The town is located amongst attractive rolling chalk heathland and surrounded by numerous stable yards and gallops. The grand faÃ§ade of the Jockey Club, the governing body of the horseracing industry, is located in the centre of the town adjacent to the National Horseracing Museum. Both day and night Newmarket has a vibrant collection of cafes, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs. The town has close connections with the monarchy and the â€˜Sport of Kingsâ€™ since James I who discovered how suitable the area was for his enjoyment of riding and hunting.
