The Dales are a short drive to the west, North York Moors closer still to the north, and the magnificent city of York just 11 miles south. York is one of the most visited cities in the country, its attractions including the railway museum and the Jorvik Viking experience, but offering great retail therapy and fine gastronomy too. Huby is a pretty village of some contrasts: there are tiny and characterful stone cottages, and a magnificent Victorian mansion - Burn Hall - now employed as a country house hotel.
