The former royal burgh town of Forfar is situated on the north-east end of the Howe of Angus, located in Strathmore near to the Angus Glens off the main road between Perth and Aberdeen. Forfar was granted royal burgh status in 1124 by David I. The town’s major industries are tourism and agriculture. Famous for the Forfar Bridie, a tasty meat pastry and the Strathmore Springs, bottled mineral water. The ancient town of Forfar is home to a vast amount of historical interest, dating back to the Roman Invasions, a succession of Roman camps were established north of Forfar; the Romans were displaced in the middle ages by the Picts.
