Some Failsworth Cottages

Failsworth, renowned for its industrial heritage, is to be found in the County of Lancashire lying between Oldham and Manchester and is best known today for the hatting industry that originated here in the mid 15th century. At that time, and up until the Industrial Revolution the area around Failwsworth consisted of good farmland with a number of cottage industries, weaving and hat making together with farming. The onset of the Industrial Revolution saw the area grow with increased population and industries all utilising the new canal network that passed through Failsworth.
