Lying between Runcorn and Warrington is the village of Daresbury in the North of England, a small village famous locally for two things, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson and the Daresbury Research Laboratory. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson was born here in Daresbury in 1832 and spent his early years in and around Cheshire before his father, an Anglican Minister, took up an appointment in Yorkshire. Charles enjoyed his early life in Daresbury and it is thought that this was the inspiration for his world famous novel “Alice in Wonderland†for the pen name the Charles used was Lewis Carroll.
