Cupar is a busy market town and former Royal Burgh in Fife, situated on the East coast railway line between the larger towns Dundee and Glenrothes. Cupar was established as a Royal Burgh by David II of Scotland in 1363 and was the location of the castles of the Mac Duffs, Thanes of Fife featured in Shakespeareâ€™s play Macbeth. The town has many architecturally interesting buildings including the neo-gothic St. James Church (1866) and the Burgh Chambers with its grand neo-classical terrace, crowned with dome and clock cupola in 1819.
