Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Devon market town of Crediton lies 7 miles from Exeter and is convenient for exploring both Exmoor and Dartmoor. For most of this historic townâ€™s life it has been a farming community, located in an area of fertile red land. It was also a centre for woollen cloth manufacturing, an industry carried out by workers in their homes, providing labour for the entire family. The men worked the looms, their wives spun and the children combed and carded the wool.
