Cardross is a historic village by the River Clyde in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, situated two miles east of Helensburgh. Cardross is well-known as the village where Robert I died in 1329. Historically interesting features include Cardross Castle standing at the mouth of the River Leven three miles east of the village and the Chapel of Saint Mahew which dates from the 14th century which was restored in 1955. Cardross is surrounded by rivers, lochs, mountains, forests and beautiful scenery, there are hotels, inns, holiday parks, self-catering accommodation and plenty of places to eat in the area.
