Borough, just south of the Thames, is the oldest district in the London Borough of Southwark. Centuries ago, the Romans settled here and constructed the original London Bridge. Much later, the area became a notorious hang-out for thieves and ne'er-do-wells. Now the regenerated Borough is a successful business centre that also boasts contemporary shops, bars, restaurants, galleries and housing to suit every pocket.
