Balsall Common as a village did not exist before the 20th century, around 200 years ago it was simply a collection of houses and cottages, back in the 19th century Kenilworth Road was a toll road and stagecoaches would thunder down the road between Stratford on Avon and Coleshill, Balsall was a staging post for the drovers from North Wales taking their stock to the markets in Southam, Banbury and London, The 1930â€™s some cohesion with this settlement of houses and cottages and after the 2nd World War the village grew expanding rapidly and today boasts a population of around 6,500.
