The ruins of Hastings Castle can be glimpsed from one of the bedroom windows – Britain’s first Norman castle, built in 1086 by Duke William of Normandy after his success at The Battle of Hastings in 1066 which in fact took place some 6 miles to the northwest. From the top of the West Hill, guests can see France on a clear day and look down on the old narrow streets and rooftops of Hastings Old Town. The South Downs at Eastbourne and Beachy Head can be seen in the distance. ..
