Tiny in comparison to other National Parks, the Forest of Dean (the 'Queen of Forests') is just 42 square miles of mixed ancient woodlands in Gloucestershire. You can find it between Chepstow, Gloucester, Ross on Wye and the River Severn and it includes towns like Cinderford, Lydney and Coleford. This is a great place to lose yourself in tranquil woodland walks, guided or otherwise. Alternatively take your bicycle round one or two of the many cycle tracks. Or … for those needing a bit more adrenaline try some guided cave exploration, rock climbing or high ropes adventure.
